Katherine's Bubby Biscuits

Katherine's Bubby Biscuits

We are always searching for healthy ways to reward our dog.  We watch what we put into our bodies and our dogs deserve the same.  The majority of commercial dog treats are full of preservatives, fillers and byproducts and thus we try our best to avoid them.

That's why we were so excited when we heard about Katherine's Bubby Biscuits and she offered to send over some samples of her gourmet dog treats for review!

Snap Dog Designs Pochettes

Positive reinforcement is key to a well trained dog, and this is the founding principle of Snap Dog Designs. Their designer treat bags are both stylish and innovative and will make rewarding your dog easier than ever.

Snap Dog Designs were kind enough to send us two samples of their dog treat pouches (pochettes) for review, and Harley and I had a great time testing them out!

Pawz Water-Proof Dog Boots

Although it may not seem like it in the Northeast, winter is here, and the cold and snow will eventually come. Often times we overestimate the toughness of our dogs paws, and their resistance to the elements. When traveling through snow or remaining outside for an extended period, snow can build up between the pads of your dogs paws. This build up causes significant discomfort and irritation. Additionally, the winter brings heavily salted roads and sidewalks full of chemical ice melts. Aside from causing irritation, this poses an additional hazard when your dog licks their sore paws. For these reasons it is a great idea to take preventative action to protect your dogs paws.

JW Pet SkidStop Slow Feed Pet Bowl

We all know that dogs are not known for their displays of patience or moderation.  When food is available they will eat it, and at times do so more rapidly than is healthy.  For some dogs this can become a serious problem, with symptoms ranging from digestive discomfort to vomiting or even bloat.  JW Pet has introduced an innovative solution to this problem with their SkidStop Slow Feed Pet Bowls.  These bowls have large interior ribs that prevent your dog from simply gulping down their food in a few bites.  The slight restrictions work to slow down your dogs eating to a safe and healthy speed.  These bowls also have thermoplastic rubber bases which work to prevent the bowl from sliding around the floor during use.

Head over to Concepts and Commodities to read a review of JW Pet Slow Feed Bowl!

Nylabone Dura Chew

Nylabone Dura

Special thanks to Nicole over at Concepts and Commodities for submitting the following review on Nylabone Dura Chew!    Please enjoy and share your thoughts in the comments below!
-Kevin

I'm always on the search for "tough toys" that can withstand the chewing of my two year old chocolate lab. The Dura Chew by Nylabone does just that. Besides being one of the strongest toys available, Nylabone Dura Chews are long lasting, which is a money saver! The Nylabone Dura Chew promises to keep your persistant chewer occupied for long periods of time. It usually takes months before the bones need to be replaced, and that should be done once the knuckles of the bone have been worn away.

Top 5 Toughest Dog Toys

so far...

Here at MyDogLikes we are on a constant search for tough and durable dog toys. Our experiences (both good and bad) on this particular quest were one of our main motivations for starting this blog. Every dog owner understands the frustrations when a new toy is ripped to shreds in a matter of moments. Not only is this a waste of money, but fragments of these poorly designed toys can be a hazard for your pet.  For this reason, we have compiled a list of our 5 favorite tough dog toys in hopes of helping you avoid such a situation.

Our history

I first started MyDogLikes in 2009, with the goal of becoming a comprehensive resource for dog owners. It was a standalone website where dog owners could read and share product reviews, post photos, and participate in discussions in our very own forum. The original site ran for about a year and a half, gaining a steady following and compiling dozens of reviews. Our forum had thousands of posts, and we had over one hundred registered users.

Everything was going great until we were hacked and corrupted files implanted within the site. With my limited webmaster knowledge I was unable to dig through the coding to make the necessary fixes. Our host took down the site and I was left with an enormous pile of files with no idea how to access the information within. In a sense I lost everything that I had spent the last year and a half and countless hours on. I know that someone with greater webmaster knowledge would be able to sort it out (and I would love to do this in the future) but I realized that for now I had bitten of more than I could chew. It was time for me to reevaluate.

Reviews Coming Soon:

We had our eye on this toy for quite a while, and finally purchased Harley one for Christmas.  It claims to be extremely durable and has a great "squish" to it which Harley always enjoys.  It glows in the dark, is non-toxic and 100% recyclable.  Harley is loving it so far, so stay tuned for the full review!

Pawz Water-Proof Dog Boots

Harley has had issues in winters past with irritation from snow and road salt, so we decided to give these dog boots a try to protect his sensitive paws.  He used them all of last season and we were very pleased with their effectiveness. They are inexpensive, reusable and even biodegradable.  Full detailed product review coming soon!

What we've been working on...

We do our best here to put out as much information as possible to help our readers make informed decisions about the dog products they buy.  Unfortunately we are limited in the amount of time and money we have to seek out new products and put together reviews.  For this reason, we encourage our readers to contribute to the site by commenting on our reviews and even now submitting your own.  We feel that the additional perspectives gained from our readers will help us create a much more comprehensive resource for dog owners.  So please don't be shy, and let us know about one of your favorite (or not so favorite) dog products.

Furthermore, if you are a dog product manufacturer, read here to learn how you can Request a Review.

MyDogLikes 2011 Holiday Gift Guide

Welcome to our first annual Holiday Gift Guide!

We all love our pets, and if you're anything like me, you don't need an excuse to spoil them.  Unfortunately, with a limited budget we often have to curtail these splurges.  When the holiday season approaches however, it is always a little easier to loosen up and pick up something special for your best friend.  The intention of this guide is to highlight some of our favorite products so you can feel more confident in your purchases this year.
